Abstract

We present Saltate!, a wireless prototype system to support beginners of ballroom dancing. Saltate!
acquires data from force sensors mounted under the dancers’ feet, detects steps, and compares their timing to the timing of beats in the music playing. If it detects mistakes, Saltate! emphasizes the beats in the music acoustically to help the dancing couple stay in sync with the music.
